uh oh!

seems people are reading and i'm not posting!  UhOh!    Here I am, we aren't off to a good start, nasty sickness going around the house.  But 2 days before the new year I ran for dog transport in the middle of the night in the middle of a snow storm to pick up 6 very stinky dogs in Kittery.  What a wild night.
Haylee was still awake waiting for the puppies when I arrived home after 1am.

I brought 2 darlings puppies home with me fore the night and sent the rest off with Julie Damon of http://www.beaubuddyrescue.com/  One was ours to foster and the other was going to another kind soul  Well....Stormy Since he had no name and it was one helluva ride isn't leaving.
Weeee not exactly what I was planning...but he's a delight and so laid back!
So due to being sick I haven't gotten terribly motivates but we started this week off right.
I made meatballs on Sunday for meatball subs, Yum and we just ate the rest with spaghetti tonight.  I've cooked a chicken with a lovely paprika rub we have one of our own birds left.  Then I need to find the best deal on local chicken.

Paprika, sea salt, and Italian seasoning, a little olive oil rubbed on the bird first, I prefer coconut oil but I'm out.  The gravy was wonderful and I also roasted a head of garlic inside.

We had an attack on our duck Sally this past weekend, she got a terrible head wound.  I brought her inside because i was to be at a photoshoot just after this happened.  I expected we would loose her when we got home.  She was well, we cleaned her up and Tony stopped and talked to our friends at http://www.dehleranimalclinic.com/ and the recommended a sugar bandage, not much else to be done.  So we wrapped her in sugar and honey after consulting our friend Google.  Today 3 days later she is eating and drinking and even cleaning tonight.  We built her a box and she's staying in for a while at least until she starts quacking really loud!

This the end....

TWENTY TWELVE
Shall come to a close.  I've not blogged as much as I would like but what is new.  The holidays were wonderful , well really most of it has been wonderful, ups and downs and around the barns but mostly forward and even.  I'd like to see it that way for the 2013.
I have dreams of compiling a cook book for holiday gifts next year,  We do allot of cooking and I think most of it is pretty good.  :)
Then I'd like to be a better Fly baby and follow my fly lady better.
Other wise there are no real resolutions, continue the way we are going and eat better, more organic and local, raise more of our own meat, and veggies, foster more wonderful dogs and help as many as we can.  More photography, do more of what I love.
Mayzee our southern girl loves the snow!!!

I picked up this cutie in the snow storm the other day straight from North Carolina, he is getting used to the cold.

blog slacker!!

Yup that's me!  We've been busy as always, the garden is almost put to bed, I've been shooting a tony of pictures and making pumpkin things in the kitchen!  Pumpkin muffins from this recipe.  Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies too!  I think it might be time for a good ole fashion chocolate chip cookie as well.  I'm supposed to be doing the biggest looser at work, I'll probably be the biggest looser by not loosening any!  Plus if I loose that last 15 pounds that I can't seem to then my clothes that already are too big really wont fit...
Today I shall roast another chicken from our flock.  We will be raising two sets i believe next year.  I'm going to slather him with coconut oil.

Peaches

So Yesterday we finaly made it to pick peaches we went to  Doles Orchard in Limerick.  Wegot up early, they only have morning hours and it's a bit of a trek and picked yellow and white peaches in the rain, hence no pictures from the orchard.

We made peach pie and chopped peaches for jam yesterday.  So first i boiled them for 30 seconds approx.

then they went in the ice bath and were peeled, most pretty easily, with the occasional stubborn one.

They are so  pretty and yummy!!

Then we added sugar to make syrup for the pie filling, which I wont share the recipe because my pie was a flop, it tasted great but did not hold together at all!

All the while after a long weeks work tony was slaving away on our new coop for our meet chickens.

Winter came out with me to check on the chicks.  Fetching Hope
