Peaches

So Yesterday we finaly made it to pick peaches we went to  Doles Orchard in Limerick.  Wegot up early, they only have morning hours and it's a bit of a trek and picked yellow and white peaches in the rain, hence no pictures from the orchard. 

We made peach pie and chopped peaches for jam yesterday.  So first i boiled them for 30 seconds approx. 

then they went in the ice bath and were peeled, most pretty easily, with the occasional stubborn one. 

They are so  pretty and yummy!!

Then we added sugar to make syrup for the pie filling, which I wont share the recipe because my pie was a flop, it tasted great but did not hold together at all!

All the while after a long weeks work tony was slaving away on our new coop for our meet chickens.

Blinky came home!

So the boy came home last Sunday and it's been a crazy fast week.
He didn't have a clue about riding in the car he barked at every bump for the first 45 minutes and in new England this time of year there are allot of bumps.  He's a little food crazed and he knows nothing but sit.
He's very willing to learn we have been working hard on sitting at the door and going out slowly, we've learned what down means and we're starting to hear the word stay.  He doesn't have clue what drop it means and he likes to jump on my counters.  He's a big boy loves to snuggle  and play with squeaky toys.

So i didn't cook much last week because i worked a bunch.  I did make a homemade mac n cheese with ham which was supper yummy.
I use 2 tbspoons flour
2 table spoons butter
2 cups of milk, 2 cupsish of cheese (sometimes its not enough just add more to thickness you desire)
salt and pepper
2 cups pasta
Make a rue from the butter and flour
then add milk and slowly add cheese as it milts, whisking frequently.
add to cooked pasta and bake for 45 minutes.
sometimes if i have them i add crushed cheese crackers to the top.

I'm gonna do some cooking next week with recipes and pictures promise!

So it's been

a crazy week!  Lots of  work, wintery weather.....  belly aches and heart aches.
I worked the weekend and then Tuesday and a sick call Thursday due to a tummy bug which has really messed with the food thoughts.   We made a big decision this week to rescue dogs from NYC shelters on deathrow.  It's insanely sad!  If you wanna help or financially help let me know.  Every dollar helps, we are currently working with Zani's furry Friends and there is a local Maine Rescue that is awesome too!  BEAU Buddy Rescue.  Help is soo needed!
We are currently waiting on Blinky the shelter wont let him go because they screwed up and missed his micro chip on admit, they are now supposedly tracking down his owner, even though he was owner relinquished to make sure that the person who brought him in was the one that micro chipped him.  Sigh so he is still sleeping on a cold hard floor getting sicker then he already is.  So cross your fingers and pray for him.

In other news I'm about to attempt to make cheese itz homemade style per request of the girl.  Cheese crackers My parents are coming to dinner and I'm making tony's favorite Caramelized garlic chicken.  I should bake some cookies too but we shall see how that pans out maybe brownies later tonight.
